7 Books like Little House on the Prairie for Adults

Anyone who knows me I’m a fiend for the Little House books. Better known as Little House on the Prairie, the series by Laura Ingalls Wilder has captured my imagination since I was a child. The beautiful descriptions of living a nomadic rural life always spoke to me and my heart went out to the family itself.

We Could All Use Feel Good Nostalgia Right Now

When you step back and look at it, the Little House books have something for everyone. If you want heartwarming family stories, they’ve got that. If you want a survival adventure, there are plenty of dangerous situations throughout nearly every book including blizzards, enormous fires, drowning… Frontier life was dangerous. Perhaps, you’re looking for fascinating descriptions of nature, cooking, historical chores, and farm life in general. Yeah, they’ve got that too.

I recently went back and reread the entire series and the sense of wonder I felt as a child remained. Problematic as the books may be, Little House on the Prairie remains a timeless classic for a reason.

We’re still in the heart of the Covid-19 pandemic, so I was still hungry for escapist reading. But when I searched for “Books like Little House on the Prairie for adults” I didn’t find anything. All of the lists just had more reading about Laura Ingalls Wilder which wasn’t what I was looking for. I’ve read tons of about the Ingalls and the Wilder families, I even made a list of Laura Ingalls Wilder related books.

The 3 Best Book Subscription Boxes That You Have to Try

Updated April 8th, 2021

Okay, everyone. I have a confession to make. There are a few book subscription boxes that I’ve tried and loved to death. …But I’m not always able to justify the price of these boxes. Some of them are great. Some are even in my best value book subscription boxes list, but there are others that I have to just give up on. Book subscription boxes feel like Christmas every month. I can’t begin to explain the rush that I get from them. Maybe it’s the secret nature of the box, maybe it’s because I just love getting little gifts. Either way, when I’m subscribed to a book subscription box, I look forward to it every month.

So which book subscription boxes would I have monthly subscriptions to no matter what if I had the money?

The 3 Best Book Box Subscriptions in Canada

Updated April 8th, 2021.

Living that book life isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to getting a book box. I am a book subscription box addict. As much as I love books, the idea of getting a surprise book plus some extra bookish goods just has me living. It’s like a Kinder Surprise except I’m not allergic to them.

Unfortunately for me, it can be hard to get certain boxes if you’re Canadian. Book of the Month for example, is only open to U.S. Residents only. Other book services end up charging you nearly the same amount for shipping as you paid for the box. This is a hard pill to swallow since the prices tend to be in USD.

Even Canadian book boxes can be pricey. I’m dying to try Sweetreads, for example, but at $80 CAD per box (before shipping)? It’s hard to justify.

I’ve written about my favourite book boxes regardless of budget before, but this is for people who are looking for value.

So below are some boxes that won’t break your bank and that will allow you to get both pretty bookish thing
